NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley have arrived at the International Space Station following a picture-perfect launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida for the agency's SpaceX Demo-2 mission. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Crew Dragon lifted off from historic Launch Complex 39A at 322 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, May 30th. This marked This is in fact the first time astronauts have launched from U.S. soil since the end of the Shuttle Program in 2011, ushering in a new era of space exploration. NASA's Mars Perseverance rover is getting a boost! The United Launch Alliance Atlas V booster that will launch NASA's newest robotic explorer is now vertical at Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The booster was lifted up in the complex's Vertical Integration Facility on May 28, 2020. The Mars Perseverance rover is scheduled to launch in mid-July aboard the Atlas V 541 rocket.
